The Chamber hosted a business breakfast this morning with guest speaker Mr Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free. The event held in The K Club was attended by key stakeholders and members from throughout Kildare which included Peter Carey, CEO Of Kildare County Council, Sean Ashe CEO Of KWETB, Chairman of The Curragh Racecourse Padraig McManus, Brigadier General Joe Mulligan and Michael Davern, CEO of The K Club. Colm McLoughlin engaged and enthralled the room with the success that is Dubai Duty Free, the business he has been involved in for the past 33 years. In his first year at the helm turnover was 3 Million dollars, today its turnover is in excess of 1.9 Billion dollars in what is now the largest retail operation of its kind in the world employing over 6000 people from 47 different nationalities.
Colm and Dubai Duty Free are great supporters of Kildare with their continued sponsorship of The Irish Derby and The Irish Open which was held recently in The K Club.
Allan Shine, CEO of the Chamber said today “ We were delighted to secure Colm to speak at this event. The success story to date is phenomenal. Our series of business breakfasts this year have been really well supported and feedback from the business community in Kildare has been excellent. Kildare County Council presented Colm with a handcrafted bog oak sculpture as a thanks for his outstanding contribution to sport and tourism in Kildare.
